Annacis Island Wastewater Treatment Plant New Outfall System – Amendment 06 – Public comments invited 

November 3, 2023 – As part of its Project and Environmental Review process, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority must determine whether the proposed Annacis Island Wastewater Treatment Plant New Outfall System – Amendment 06, downstream from the Alex Fraser Bridge, on the north side of the Fraser River, Delta is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. 

To help inform this determination and a decision on whether or not to approve the proposed amendment, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.  For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website. In addition, your contact information may be shared with third parties, e.g., the tenant, other relevant agencies, to help respond to your questions and inform possible mitigations.

The proposed amendment 

Metro Vancouver is requesting an extension to the approved project permit PER 17-093, which has an expiry date of December 31, 2023, as more time is needed to complete the Project. The scope of works that remain to be completed includes: 

• The installation of pre-cast concrete covers over the duckbill valves on the diffuser manifold 
• Placement of the backfill material and rip rap over the diffuser manifold 
• Removal of the temporary bulkheads that are in the riser pipe assembly
