The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing a project. The proposed project is at existing Building 62, a one-story structure consisting of concrete and structural steel construction, with a building footprint of 1,323 square meters. Building 62 was constructed in 1972, it houses garage bays, office space, and storage areas.

The purpose of the project is to replace the roof system on building 62. Several areas of damage and deterioration were noted throughout the roof in building condition reports including water ponding due to poor drainage, shifted areas of gravel protection exposing the membrane, poorly installed sealant, and detached/lifted areas of the parapet. Evidence of water leakage and damage was noted in the kitchen area of the building.

The project will include the removal of the current roof system and its replacement with a 3 ply modified bitumen roofing system with new drains, as well as adjustment and repair of the parapet, flashings, vents, and other roof components.
