The Proposed Project

      • The Chaudière Crossing, made of up of eight structures, passes over the Ottawa River and several hydroelectric waterways. This crossing links Eddy Street, in Hull, to Booth Street in Ottawa, uniting the communities of Gatineau (QC) and Ottawa (ON).
      • The Southern Structures Renewal (SSR) project bundles together work on three of the structures along the Chaudière Crossing:
        • Bronson channel span: replacement of the superstructure, pier, and abutments (a complete replacement of the bridge).
        • Ottawa hydroelectric power commission channel span and Buchanan channel span: minor repairs to secondary component (e.g., railings, bearings, lighting components).
      •  To avoid closures during construction, the project will follow a phased approach to ensure two lanes (one for each direction) remain open for traffic.
