Gatineau, QC – August 28, 2023 – Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) has determined that the proposed "Temagami First Nation Outdoor Cultural Spaces (Family Healing and Wellness Centre)" project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

This determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

  • Impacts on rights of Indigenous peoples;
  • Indigenous knowledge;
  • Community knowledge; and
  • Technically and economically feasible mitigation measures.

No comments were received during the public commenting period.

Implementation of mitigation measures is required for the project to address potential environmental effects related to:

  • Invasive Species

The main mitigation measure taken into consideration will be to ensure that all vehicles and equipment are cleaned and inspected prior to deploying to Bear Island.

Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada is satisfied that that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
