Wahanpitae First Nation - Landfill Closure and Waste Transfer Station Construction Project – Public Comments Invited

August 14, 2023 – Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Landfill Closure and Waste Transfer Station Construction Project, located in Wahnapitae First Nation is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

Wahnapitae First Nation is proposing a Landfill Closure and Waste Transfer Station Construction Project at their community. The proposed physical activities for the project will include: (minimal) site clearing; grading; landfill closure; construction of the waste transfer station operational gravel pad; placement of containers and bunker areas for different waste streams; construction of concrete foundation for an equipment storage building; and construction of drainage swales and ditches.
