Installation of a Hydrogen Fueling Station
September 5, 2024 – Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) has determined that the Carlsun Hydrogen Fueling Station is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects as long as all mitigation measures are applied.
This determination was based on a consideration of technical and economically feasible mitigation measures. No comments were received during the 30-day public comment period.
Mitigation measures taken into account for this determination are:
- All work to be conducted in compliance with the Toronto Pearson Airport Construction Code.
- The contractor has submitted plans for waste management, soil management, sediment and erosion control, vegetation restoration and environmental emergency spill response.
- Mitigation measures are documented in the Environmental Effects Evaluation and can be obtained upon request.
- Ensuring proper installation and maintenance of equipment to minimize accidents and malfunctions; and
- All activities at the airport are conducted in an environmentally responsible manner as per Toronto Pearson's Environmental Management System and polices.
The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) is satisfied that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
Therefore, Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) may carry out the project, exercise any power, perform any duty or function, or provide financial assistance to enable the project to be carried out in whole or in part.
