The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing a project. The objective of the project is to improve the drainage of the Gladius training trail located at Farnham Garrison. The works will have a maximum estimated duration of one month. The drainage improvement works will include, but not limited to, the addition of three culverts and four swales near obstacles #1 and #2, as well as the installation of a geotextile membrane and a layer of backfill (crushed stone 0-20 millimeters), in the developed area of obstacle #7. The works will be carried out either manually or using small machinery (backhoe, tenwheel trucks and vibrating plate).

The Gladius Track Drainage Project includes the following steps for all three obstacles:

  • Site preparation and mobilization of equipment.
  • Construction of three culverts, including excavation, installation of culverts and addition of 0-20 millimeter crushed stone (Obstacle #1 and #2)
  • Backfilling and adding geotextile to a portion of the site (Obstacle #7).
  • Site rehabilitation and demobilization
