Shuswap North Okanagan Rail Trail – Construct Cultural Centre - Public Comments Invited

July 4, 2023 – Infrastructure Canada must determine whether the proposed Shuswap North Okanagan Rail Trail Project, located in Splatsin First Nation, BC is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Infrastructure Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website

The Proposed Project

The Shuswap North Okanagan Rail Trail is located in Splatsin unceded territory of the Secwépemc Nation. Splatsin Kukpi7 (Chief) and the Council of the Splatsin are working together with the Columbia Shuswap Regional District and the Regional District of North Okanagan and municipal leaders to develop the entire 50 km abandoned Sicamous-to-Armstrong rail corridor in South Central British Columbia, as a continuous non-motorized multi-use path for walking & cycling. Purpose: to construct the km 0.0 – 42.6 section of the Rail Trail activating 42.6 kms of active transportation and recreational greenway for walking and bicycling within Splatsin the Secwépemc territory.
