Francis Street Upgrades – Madawaska Maliseet First Nation – Public Comments Invited
June 23, 2023 – Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Francis Street Upgrades, located in Madawaska Maliseet First Nation, is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.

The Proposed Project
The Francis Street Upgrade project involves extending the Storm Water Drainage system, adding Curbs and sidewalk, and installing a prefabricated steel pedestrian bridge across Snake Stream.
The existing Francis Street storm water drainage system is made up of a mixture of open ditch, driveway culverts, and underground piping. This project is to replace the open ditch/driveway culverts with an underground drainage system, complete with concrete curbs and sidewalk. Approximately 100m of Pipeline Road (Crush Rock surface) will be regraded and surfaced with 3 coats of chipseal.
