The proposed project

The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority's Engineering & Asset Management Department proposes to install a debris deflector between Berth 1 and 2's a damaged training wall. The debris deflector is required to deter the ingress of debris through the wall breach and prevent potential damage to terminal infrastructure (i.e., concrete piles and dock structures) and berthing vessels. The project consists of using a vibratory hammer to drive two 900-millimetre steel piles. The piles will form end supports for five deflector logs. In addition, a 90-metre-long log chain will be installed and held in place with two 23-metre-long restraint chains tied to two concrete lock blocks near the shoreline.
