The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing to install a new fuel testing lab on a new pad at the 12 Wing Shearwater aviation fuel farm. A new fuel testing lab was procured by Base Logistics and stored in the parking lot of 12 Wing Shearwater building SHHRH. The intention is to replace the existing fuel shed (building SH252) at the aviation fuel farm with the procured fuel testing lab. The procured fuel testing lab is explosion proof and will not be suitable for other equipment that is not explosion proof, therefore, the existing fuel shed (building SH252) will remain for other uses. Various components at the fuel farm will need to be replaced to support continued fuel farm functionality, including installation of a new concrete slab on grade, replacement of an outside aboveground 2,000 Liter waste turbo fuel storage tank, and replacement of an inside oil-water separator with a new inside 200 Liter/minute oil interceptor
