The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing a project which will involve replacement of the existing Fuel Reclamation Facility (FRF) with a site-built steel structure that will be mounted on a slab-on-grade foundation. A short length (less than 5 meters) and shallow depth trench will be excavated to connect electrical service to the FRF. The new FRF will incorporate secondary fuel containment for spill prevention and will tie into the existing above-ground piping to the Petroleum Oil Lubricant Tank Farm manifold. No fuel tanks are being added or removed in this Project. Demolition of the existing skid mounted FRF will be carried out and all parts/waste will then be handled/recycled/disposed of in accordance with applicable environmental and/or health and safety regulations and as per the known contaminants/hazardous materials.
