Notice of Time Limit Suspension with Reasons

Ottawa — March 31, 2022 — On March 30, 2022, the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (the Agency) suspended the 270-day time limit for the Planning Phase under the Impact Assessment Act for GCT Canada Limited Partnership's (the proponent) GCT Deltaport Expansion - Berth Four Project.

The Agency has taken this action further to a written request from the proponent that the time limit for the Planning Phase be suspended for 45 days such that the time limit expires on May 31, 2022. The proponent requested the suspension to allow the Agency and the British Columbia Environmental Assessment Office (EAO) to ensure a coordinated federal and provincial assessment process. The suspension will also allow additional opportunities for meaningful engagement and consensus seeking with Indigenous nations.

On May 31, 2022, the Agency will post a Notice of Commencement, and will issue the final Joint Guidelines and plans that it has developed in collaboration with the EAO.
