The Proposed Project

The proposed Charlottetown Airport Terminal Expansion Phase 1 will be broken down into two phases, both located at 250 Maple Hills Ave. Phase 1a will be an outdoor holdroom that will offer additional capacity during the peak summer months. It will be located on the East side of the current terminal building and be constructed of a concrete slab with steel canopies for weather protection. This area will have standing and seating room and will be enclosed with glass walls to segregate it from airside activities. Phase 1b is a two storey terminal expansion to the South that will be used for baggage makeup, new airport authority offices, tenant offices, and check-in hall expansion.

During construction, stormwater runoff and sediment control measures will be provided by the site contractor, as required, and reviewed by the Airport Authority on a regular basis. All municipal, provincial and federal codes, standards, and best management practices will be followed. Both phases are in previously developed areas (i.e., existing parking lot or landscaped area) with no woodland or known sensitive ecological habitat being impacted.
