2022-11-25 – Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada must determine whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.

Written comments must be submitted by 2022-12-27 to the contact identified on the project page.

The Proposed Project

Spectrum Management Operations Branch: Xplore Inc. is proposing the installation of new radiocommunication towers with antennas, for a microwave radio communication links on the following proposed towers which are 30 meters in height and located on the Stony No. 142-143-144 Reserve: Morley, AB 6318 Forestry Trunk Road are mounted at 20m on proposed radiocommunication tower; All installations will include a 0.61m diameter microwave antennas. Each system will carry  high capacity Ethernet network traffic between the two points using one channel in the 19 GHz or 23GHz bands.  Both existing and new towers may undergo other periodic antenna additions or replacements, as required for any Radiocommunication service.

Connected Canada Branch: New (Single) Tower Construction – Modification The goal of the project is to provide broadband service to Stoney Nakoda Nation members. The project includes the movement of one 45 meter (138') free standing (no guidewires) telecommunication tower on Morley Reserve. All of the equipment necessary to operate this facility will be housed in a small equipment cabinet located on site. These towers may undergo future modifications or the addition/replacement of antennas.
