RALMAX ROCK BAY FERRY DOCK INSTALLATION – PUBLIC COMMENTS INVITED


March 7, 2022– Transport Canada must determine whether the proposed Ralmax Rock Bay Ferry Dock Installation, located in Rock Bay, Victoria is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
To help inform this determination, Transport Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public [and may be posted online]. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice  on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

Ralmax Properties Ltd. requests a new lease from Transport Canada for a dock facility to allow for moorage of the Victoria Harbour Ferries fleet. The proposed facility is planned to be constructed in a water lot adjacent to 525 Bay St, Rock Bay in Victoria, British Columbia. 
The marine facility is proposed to include a dock structure consisting of three floats, approximately 32 metres long by 2 metres wide. In addition, seven fingers will be installed, 6 being approximately 7 metres in length and 2 metres in width and 1 being 22 metres in length and 2 metres in width. The floats will be constructed off-site and floated to the Project location. The floats will be secured with 18 steel piles 0.3 metres in diameter installed via vibratory hammer from a barge.
