The proposed project

The proposed Project is for an installation of a new shared recreational dock at 702 and 706 Alderside Road, Port Moody.

The proposed shared dock includes the following features:

  • A 85. 3 metre long and 3.05 metre wide walkway supported by 14 steel piles that runs from an existing land-side retaining wall

  • A 56.7 square-metre t-shaped dock connected to the walkway by a 12.2 metre by 3.05 metre ramp

  • Four, 254 millimetre diameter steel piles will be installed adjacent to the floating dock and will secure the dock allowing the dock to move vertically with the tides.

The dock and walkway are aluminum prefabricated pieces and will have SunWalk decking to provide good light penetration and low impacts to the surrounding environment.

The piles will be installed by vibratory and/or drop hammer techniques. Construction will take approximately two weeks to complete. The project components that require a barge for construction (e.g., pile installation) will occur during high tide. The project components that require beach access (e.g., pier installation) will occur during low tide.
