Railyard Expansion - Richardson – Public comments invited 

November 15, 2021 – As part of its Project and Environmental Review process, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority must determine whether the proposed Railyard Expansion - Richardson, at Richardson's Terminal located at 375 Low Level Road, North Vancouver, BC is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. Written comments to be received by December 14, 2021.

To help inform this determination and a decision on whether or not to approve the proposed project, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.  For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website. In addition, your contact information may be shared with third parties, e.g., the tenant, other relevant agencies, to help respond to your questions and inform possible mitigations.

The proposed project 

Richardson are proposing a rail-focused expansion of their North Vancouver terminal. The proposed expansion focuses on the following pieces of work: 

  • Construction of 15 additional storage tracks; 
  • Realignment of tracks within the existing yard;  
  • Addition of crossovers and turnouts within the existing yard;  
  • Installation of truck turnaround area, emergency access road and construction of new vehicular access gates (security and emergency); and 
  • Various associated works such as installation of new lighting, fencing and utilities.
