Building Construction in Support of Armoured Combat Support Vehicle – Valcartier Military Base

October 27, 2021 — The Department of National Defence must decide whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this decision, the Department of National Defence is inviting comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) has proposed a project which consists of building a new garage on the Valcartier base which will be used to accommodate the new Armoured combat support vehicle. The projected gross area of the new building is 12,174 m². This building will be used for vehicle storage and first and second line maintenance for the entire brigade fleet. More than half of the space will be occupied by indoor parking (6,514 m²) and maintenance bays (959 m²). The remaining space will be finished with a small kitchen, administrative rooms, classrooms, toilets and showers, quartermaster, welding and washing rooms. The building should be on one or two levels.
