The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) has proposed a project which consists of the demolition and complete reconstruction of the pool, arena and cloakroom sectors. In order to bring the facilities up to code, the building will be enlarged in two locations. In addition, we will undertake the steps to ensure compliance of various elements of the building (fire protection, fire alarms, building structure, etc.). The work of asbestos removal as well as the tasks of sanitation and decontamination will also be required in several sectors (pool area and cloakrooms, among others) where the renovations will be undertaken in asbestos conditions. The enlargement will reduce the existing sports grounds (dek hockey and tennis). The existing traffic way will be relocated and rebuilt according to its current dimensions.
