Filter and Dust System Modifications - Cargill – Public comments invited

October 21, 2021 – As part of its Project and Environmental Review process, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority must determine whether the proposed Filter and Dust System Modifications - Cargill, located at Cargill North Vancouver Grain Terminal 801 Low Level Road, North Vancouver, BC, is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. Written comments to be received by November 19, 2021.

To help inform this determination and a decision on whether or not to approve the proposed project, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.  For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website. In addition, your contact information may be shared with third parties, e.g., the tenant, other relevant agencies, to help respond to your questions and inform possible mitigations.

The proposed project

Cargill Limited, located at 801 Low Level Road in North Vancouver is proposing to upgrade the facility's dust collection system. In summary, there are four dust collectors to be removed and four new dust collectors, one new cyclone and three new dust transfer blowers to be installed. The works will take place on the rooftop of the terminal's annex buildings, the rooftop of the transfer house and tower one. Silencers will be installed on all new dust collectors, anticipated noise from the new equipment is expected to be quieter than the existing equipment.
