The proposed project

The project consists of adding armor stones to the wall of the dykes and an islet built in 2012 at Iles de la Paix in Beauharnois. The stones will be placed on the side exposed to the waves only.

The stones will be provided from local quarries. The stones will be free from fine and organic materials. The stones will be moved by truck and stored on land in Beauharnois. They will be moved by barge to the dykes and the islet. The machinery used for placing the stones includes a mechanical shovel with a clamshell bucket. The work is scheduled for a few weeks in autumn 2021.
