The proposed project

Fraser River Pile & Dredge (GP) Inc., on behalf of Interfor Corporation, proposes to conduct periodic maintenance dredging of up to 4,000 cubic metres of material adjacent to 9355 Alaska Way, Delta, BC. The applicant is seeking a multi-year permit to dredge periodically, during the least risk fish window for the Fraser River. Previous maintenance dredging within the same footprint and to the same depth was most recently conducted in December 2020.

The Project consists of dredging to an approximate grade of -4.6 metres local low water using a barge-mounted crane and clamshell bucket. The dredge footprint will be approximately 15,620 square metres. Dredged materials will be loaded onto a barge for transport and disposal at an approved disposal at sea site. Dredging is anticipated to take two to four days to complete per event, and may be conducted outside of regular work hours, e.g., on weekends during shutdown periods, to accommodate facility operations.
