Proposed Project:

Geotechnical investigation is required to support the site selection process for a support facility at the Chalk River Laboratories site, managed by Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) and owned by Atomic Energy of Canada Limited.  The locations being assessed for the proposed facility are comprised of undisturbed federal land located in close proximity to other existing facilities at the Chalk River Laboratories.  Site preparation activities will include localized vegetation clearing to facilitate access.  The geotechnical characterization will involve drilling a series of boreholes to evaluate soil and bedrock quality.  All activities will be conducted in accordance with CNL's Environmental Policy and applicable legislation.  A separate IAA s.82 review will be conducted for the activities associated with the facility construction once a suitable location has been determined.
