Thunder Bay (Current River) Harbour Rehabilitation - Public Comments Invited 

July 21, 2021 – Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Small Craft Harbours Branch, must determine whether the proposed Thunder Bay (Current River) Harbour Rehabilitation Project located in Thunder Bay, Ontario is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Fisheries and Oceans Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project 

Fisheries and Oceans Canada intends to complete a Rehabilitation Project at Thunder Bay (Current River) Small Craft Harbour located on the northwest shore of Lake Superior in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

The Rehabilitation will include:

  • Demolition and removal of the existing concrete decks
  • Replacing lost fill in the timber structure
  • Installation of new concrete decks and appurtenances
  • Repairs to undermined portions of timber cribs
  • Repairs to the rock protection slopes
  • Repair or replacement of the launch ramp
