The Proposed Project

Fisheries and Oceans Canada Small Craft Harbours Branch intends to complete a Wharf Rehabilitation Project at Gros Cap Small Craft Harbour located in Prince Township, ON along the southeastern tip of Lake Superior. The proposed project includes demolition and removal of the existing timber crib wharf and installation of 4 new timber cribs; replacement of stringers, decking and fenders along the entire main timber wharf; and repairs to the wharf extension and loading dock. Completion of this work will involve localized dredging of a small area of the harbour basin around the existing timber cribwork and placement of a new rock mattress in the same footprint as existing to support the new cribwork; and could involve maintenance dredging of the harbour basin. This work will be completed in accordance with all applicable measures in the DFO Routine Maintenance Dredging Code of Practice and Measures to Protect Fish and Fish Habitat.
