Public Notice - Public Comments Invited

2021-05-11 – Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada must determine whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination.

Written comments must be submitted by 2021-06-11 to the contact identified on the project page.

The Proposed Project

Telus Communications Inc. is proposing to construct a new 38.0 meter tall self-support, monopole tower on Esowista Reserve No. 3. The purpose of the proposed tower is to expand Telus' wireless coverage and to provide access to dependable wireless high-speed internet services in the Tla-o-qui-aht community. Cellular antennas will be mounted at the top of the tower. Access to the proposed tower site is via Nuu-Put-Tah-Chilth Road and via a driveway that will extend into Telus' existing compound. The proposed tower may undergo periodic antenna additions and/or replacements.

The proposed tower site is located at 49º 04' 41.3292" N, 125º 47' 49.3512" W on the Esowista No. 3 Reserve, Tofino, BC.
