Public Comment Period on Intent to Make a Determination
Demolition and Construction of New Buildings

March 19, 2021 — The Department of National Defence must decide whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this decision, the Department of National Defence is inviting comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

This project consists of work execution, labor, materials and tools needed for the deconstruction / demolition or renovation of several existing buildings (11), the construction of new buildings and the development of secondary infrastructures and public utility services (telecom, pipeline, retention basin, etc.). Demolition residues will be disposed as hazardous materials or reused according to the recommendations of the available studies for each buildings affected. Excavation work will be carried out for the construction of the new buildings and the infrastructure development. Soil will be reused or disposed of off-site, based on available environmental studies. With the exception of demolition residues and excess soil, all work will be carried out on the territory of CFB Bagotville (Quebec).
