The Proposed Project

The Kciw Knicanewek Sports and Recreation Park (KKSRP) project consists of the development of a new  recreational area for members of the Negotkuk community. The proposed site is a vacant lot centrally located within a residential neighbourhood of the Tobique First Nation, and will be easily accessible by footpath to a large number of users. The project also incorporates the capped former community landfill, thereby utilizing an area that would otherwise be unsuitable for most types of development. The park includes the following components: an access road and parking area; a picnic area, an amphitheatre, a multi-purpose slab/outdoor rink, a playground, a field house, a sliding hill, a baseball diamond, a soccer field / track, and a grounds building.
