The Proposed Project

The purpose of the project is to decommission the existing Aldergrove, BC Weather Radar and install a new weather radar system in its place (a property owned by Transport Canada). The geographic coordinates of the proposed new radar are 49.016458 N, -122.487406 W. The new radar will continue to provide coverage for southwestern British Columbia and will consist of a 28-metre open lattice steel tower with a 11.8-metre diameter radome at the top (sphere housing the antenna) for a total height of approximately 41 metres including lightning protection rods. The new radar will operate at frequency of 2848MHz.
