The Proposed Project

In 1942 Stony Point Reserve land was expropriated by the Government of Canada under the War Measures Act for use as a military training base. The Ipperwash Final Settlement Agreement between the Kettle and Stony Point First Nation and Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Canada signed in 2016 included a commitment by the Government of Canada to clear and remediate the land and return it to the First Nation.

The proposed project includes the installation of 19 prefabricated temporary housing units on previously disturbed lands The Project will include site preparation (vegetation clearing, grading), construction of gravel pads and installation of new water, sanitary sewers and electrical utility lines to connect to existing systems.
