Dust Suppression Upgrade – Neptune Bulk Terminals (Canada) Ltd. – Project Permit 16-072 – Extension to the Expiry Date - Public Comments Invited

April 24, 2020 – As part of its Project and Environmental Review process, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority must determine whether the proposed Dust Suppression Upgrade – Neptune Bulk Terminals (Canada) Ltd. – Project Permit 16-072 – Extension to the Expiry Date, located in 1001 Low Level Road, North Vancouver  is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination and a decision on whether or not to approve the proposed project, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

The Permit Holder proposes to carry out physical activities related to the Dust Suppression Upgrade project up until November 30, 2020. This would require an extension to the approved Dust Suppression Upgrade project permit (PER 16-072), which has an expiry of May 31, 2020.

Neptune Bulk Terminals (Canada) Ltd. exports metallurgical coal to overseas markets. Coal is unloaded from unit trains at the terminal, and stockpiled on site. Municipal water is applied to the open stockpiles using a spray system to mitigate dust during dry or windy conditions.
