Install 25kV Electrical - Phase 9 at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Suffield

April 17, 2020 — The Department of National Defence must decide whether the proposed project to upgrade the electrical distribution in the Force Maintenance Area of the Base is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this decision, the Department of National Defence is inviting comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Suffield is to execute a project to upgrade the electrical distribution in the Force Maintenance Area of the Base from 13.8kV to 25kV in Summer 2020. The physical work encompasses replacement of overhead power lines with an underground distribution system. Work will include the replacement of electrical components and equipment feeding approximately 32 buildings.
