The Proposed Project

Department of National Defence (DND), is planning to carry out a remediation of a watercourse located within a contaminated site on CFB Bagotville property. Previous environmental studies have shown contamination of the sediment and of the surface water by various contaminants. The project will include excavation of the sediment, about 45 cm in depth, for a distance of 480 m. Contaminated soil will be disposed in accordance of the applicable regulations, in an authorized site for the treatment. After completing the work, the stream will be deeper, to insure an adequate water level, going from the current 10-15 cmto 30 cm in depth. Two "Stormceptors" will be installed upstream to control future contamination risk.
