Site Upgrade and Road Realignment - Lynnterm - Project Permit No. 17-154-2 - Extension to the Expiry Date - Public Comments Invited

February 7, 2020 – As part of its Project and Environmental Review process, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority must determine whether the proposed extension to the Expiry Date of the approved Site Upgrades and Road Realignment - Lynnterm (PER No. 17-154), located in North Vancouver, B.C., is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination and a decision on whether or not to approve the proposed project, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

The Permit Holder proposes to carry out physical activities related to the completion of site upgrades at Lynnterm up until June 30, 2020. This would require an extension to the approved Site Upgrades and Road Realignment - Lynnterm project permit (PER No. 17-154), which has an expiry date of February 28, 2020.

The extension is being requested as a result of project scheduling delays. The scope of works that would be completed during the extended period are specific to the new storage yard and include the installation of utilities (Hydro, telecommunications, water and storm), subgrade preparation, placement of granular base materials and paving. Works also include the installation of two reduced pressure backflow assemblies, meters, and associated piping at the northwest corner of the site and the southwest corner of Mountain Highway and Columbia Street.
