Quebec, January 4 2017

The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency) invites you to participate in an open house and public sessions on the Quebec Port Authority's Environmental Impact Statement for the Port of Quebec Deep-Water Multipurpose Wharf Project - Beauport 2020. These events will be held in the Hotel Ambassadeur in Québec located at 3401, boulevard Ste-Anne, Quebec on January 31 and February 1st and 2nd, 2017.

The sessions are open to all and are aimed at gathering questions and comments from the public about the potential environmental effects of the project and on the measures proposed by the proponent to prevent or mitigate those effects.

The open house will be held on January 31, from 3:30 to 8:30 pm. You will be invited to visit themed based booths and meet with federal government departments and the Quebec government representatives. They will respond to your questions based on the preliminary results of their analysis of the Environmental Impact Statement on topics such as wildlife and wildlife habitat, air quality, sediment management, human environment and marine safety. The proponent will also be present to answer questions concerning its findings on the topics presented in its Environmental Impact Statement. In addition, you will be able to meet with Agency staff members and ask questions about the federal environmental assessment process.

The public session will be held on February 1 and 2, 2017 from 6:15 to 10:00 pm. It will be hosted by a moderator in the presence of the proponent and federal departments and the Quebec government representatives. Members of the public will have the opportunity to ask questions and make comments about the Environmental Impact Statement. A summary of the questions and comments received will be posted on the Canadian environmental assessment Registry and considered by the Agency as part of the environmental assessment of the project.

During the public meetings, the people who wish to ask questions to the Quebec Port Authority or to the environmental evaluation expert committee will have to sit at the welcoming table before the beginning of the hearings, which will take place between 6:15 and 7:00 pm.
