Sisson Project (Tungsten and Molybdenum Mine) — Public Comments Invited

April 15, 2016 — The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency) is conducting a comprehensive study type environmental assessment of the proposed Sisson Project, located in New Brunswick. The Agency invites the public to comment on the Comprehensive Study Report for the project.

The Comprehensive Study Report includes the Agency's conclusions and recommendations regarding the implementation of mitigation measures and whether the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

This is the final comment period on the environmental assessment of the project. All comments received will be considered public.

The Proposed Project

Sisson Mines Ltd. is proposing to construct and operate an open-pit tungsten and molybdenum mine approximately 60 kilometres northwest of Fredericton, New Brunswick. The mine would have a lifespan of 27 years and would extract an average of 30,000 tonnes of ore per day. The project would involve mining by conventional open-pit methods and would include associated activities and components, including on-site ore storage and processing, tailings and waste storage, treatment, and disposal, water management, and a new 42-kilometre transmission line, running alongside an existing transmission line.
