Roberts Bank Terminal 2 — Participant Funding Available for Public Comment on the Upcoming Environmental Assessment

OTTAWA, February 5, 2014 — The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency is making funding available through its Participant Funding Program to assist the participation of the public and Aboriginal groups in the upcoming steps of the environmental review of the Roberts Bank Terminal 2 Project.

Funding is available for eligible individuals and groups to assist their participation in the upcoming environmental assessment, including reviewing and providing comments on the Review Panel Terms of Reference and the Environmental Impact Statement, and participating in the public hearing.

On January 7, 2014, Environment Minister Leona Aglukkaq referred the proposed Roberts Bank Terminal 2 Project to a review panel for an environmental assessment.

Port Metro Vancouver proposes the construction and operation of a new three-berth marine container terminal located at Roberts Bank in Delta, British Columbia, approximately 35 kilometres south of Vancouver. The proposed project, to be located next to the existing Deltaport and Westshore Terminals, would provide an additional 2.4 million units of container capacity per year at Roberts Bank.

Information on the project is available on the Canadian Environmental Assessment Registry, reference number 80054.

Applications received by March 7, 2014 will be considered. Recipients and the amount of funding allocated will be announced at a later date.

To apply for funding, email the Participant Funding Program at PFP.PAFP@ceaa-acee.gc.ca or call 1-866-582-1884. The Application form–Environmental Assessment by Review Panel is available online through the Agency Website under Participant Funding.
