North American Polypropylene Rail Yard Project — Public Comments Invited

May 30, 2016 — The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency) must decide whether a federal environmental assessment is required for the proposed North American Polypropylene Rail Yard Project, located in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.

To help inform this decision, the Agency is seeking comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. All comments received will be considered public.

The Proposed Project

North American Polypropylene ULC is proposing the construction and operation of a rail yard located in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. As proposed, the North American Polypropylene Rail Yard Project would include 15 to 25 new rail tracks to allow for the transportation of polypropylene pellets to domestic and international markets. Once constructed, the project site is expected to occupy an area of approximately 11.5 hectares.
