Review Panels
The Minister of the Environment may refer an environmental assessment to a review panel if the Minister is of the opinion that it is in the public interest to do so. A review panel is a group of independent experts appointed by the Minister of the Environment to conduct an environmental assessment.
The review panel submits a report to the Minister of the Environment that sets out the panel's rationale, conclusions and recommendations, including any proposed mitigation measures and suggestions for a follow-up program.
For information on designated projects proposed since the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012 came into force, visit the Canadian Environmental Assessment Registry.
